Coastal Virginia 100 Kata Challenge

100 kata challenge

Registration for Coastal Virginia 100 Kata challenge is now open!

What is the Coastal Virginia 100 Kata Challenge about?

We are excited to present the first Coastal Virginia 100 Kata Challenge. Our goal is to bring awareness to local non-profit organizations. The Non-Profit organization will be announced shortly.

What is a Kata?

Example of Kata:  Passai-Sho

Kata is the fundamental building block of Traditional Okinawan Karate, otherwise called forms. Just about every martial uses forms to develop muscle memory, balance, timing and strength. Our challenge is to teach a large group of people one of our kata, and then to let everyone do it 100 times, together. This is a physical and mental workout!

Prior knowledge of martial arts is not required, just a willingness to learn the moves and attempt to do the Kata 100 times in a group.

When and where?

We plan to have two of these challenges, times and dates, to be determined.

This event is free to anyone to take part, though we will support a local non-profit & donations to the group are welcome.
